4 years of qualifying experience under a licensed surveyor with degree; 6 years without degree
Virginia Also Requires: Virginia State-Specific Exam
Virginia requires a state-specific exam covering Virginia surveying laws (Code of Virginia Title 54.1, Chapter 4) and minimum standards of practice.

- 1Verify you meet Virginia's experience requirements through the Virginia Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers, and Landscape Architects.
- 2Gather work experience documentation and professional references.
- 3Submit your application to the Virginia state board (not directly to NCEES).
- 4Once approved by the state board, receive authorization from NCEES.
- 5Register and pay through your MyNCEES account ($375 exam fee).
- 6Schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE test center.
