About Metes & Bounds

Metes and bounds is the oldest system of land description in the United States, dating to the original 13 colonies. It describes a parcel by listing a series of boundary lines (courses) defined by bearings and distances, typically starting and ending at a point of beginning (POB).

Bearing Format

  • Angle is always 0°-90°
