Experience Requirements

4 years of qualifying experience with degree; 6 years without degree

Michigan Also Requires: Michigan State-Specific Exam

Michigan requires a state-specific exam covering Michigan surveying law (MCL 339.2001 et seq.), standards of practice, and the Michigan Coordinate System.

How to Apply

  1. 1Verify you meet Michigan's experience requirements through the Michigan Board of Professional Surveyors.
  2. 2Gather work experience documentation and professional references.
  3. 3Submit your application to the Michigan state board (not directly to NCEES).
  4. 4Once approved by the state board, receive authorization from NCEES.
  5. 5Register and pay through your MyNCEES account ($375 exam fee).
  6. 6Schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE test center.
