Experience Requirements

4 years of qualifying experience with degree; 6 years without degree

Montana Also Requires: Montana State-Specific Exam

Montana requires a state-specific exam covering USPLSS (U.S. Public Land Survey System), Montana surveying statutes (MCA Title 37, Chapter 67), and state-specific survey practices.

How to Apply

  1. 1Verify you meet Montana's experience requirements through the Montana Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors.
  2. 2Gather work experience documentation and professional references.
  3. 3Submit your application to the Montana state board (not directly to NCEES).
  4. 4Once approved by the state board, receive authorization from NCEES.
  5. 5Register and pay through your MyNCEES account ($375 exam fee).
  6. 6Schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE test center.
