Experience Requirements

4 years of qualifying experience with degree; at least 2 years under direct supervision of an RPLS; 6 years without degree

Texas Also Requires: Texas State-Specific Exam

Texas requires a state-specific exam covering Texas surveying law (Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1071), rules of the board, and the Texas Administrative Code.

How to Apply

  1. 1Verify you meet Texas's experience requirements through the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying.
  2. 2Gather work experience documentation and professional references.
  3. 3Submit your application to the Texas state board (not directly to NCEES).
  4. 4Once approved by the state board, receive authorization from NCEES.
  5. 5Register and pay through your MyNCEES account ($375 exam fee).
  6. 6Schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE test center.

Reciprocity / Comity

Accepts comity; must pass state-specific exam

Continuing Education

12 PDH per annual renewal (including 3 hours ethics)
