4 years of qualifying experience with degree; 6 years without degree

New Mexico Also Requires: New Mexico State-Specific Exam

New Mexico requires a state-specific exam covering New Mexico surveying statutes (NMSA Chapter 61, Article 23), administrative rules, and Spanish and Mexican land grants unique to New Mexico.

How to Apply

  1. 1Verify you meet New Mexico's experience requirements through the New Mexico Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors.
  2. 2Gather work experience documentation and professional references.
  3. 3Submit your application to the New Mexico state board (not directly to NCEES).
  4. 4Once approved by the state board, receive authorization from NCEES.
  5. 5Register and pay through your MyNCEES account ($375 exam fee).
  6. 6Schedule your exam at a Pearson VUE test center.
